Bell Theatre Group Inc.
The Bell Theatre Group has a rich and vibrant history, rooted in a passion for community, creativity, and the performing arts. Founded in 1998 by a group of local theatre enthusiasts, the group began as a small collective dedicated to bringing live theatre to the Bell Bunya region. Their first productions were modest, staged in community halls and local schools, but quickly gained a loyal following thanks to their heartfelt performances and commitment to quality.
Over the years, the Bell Theatre Group has grown both in size and reputation. The group has staged a diverse array of productions, ranging from classic plays and musicals to original works written by local playwrights. Notable past shows include beloved classics such as “Our Town,” “The Importance of Being Earnest,” and “Fiddler on the Roof,” as well as contemporary pieces and family-friendly pantomimes. Each season, the group strives to offer something for everyone, ensuring that audiences of all ages and backgrounds feel welcome.
A hallmark of the Bell Theatre Group is its dedication to nurturing local talent. Many actors, directors, and crew members have found their start with the group, going on to pursue further opportunities in the arts. The group also regularly collaborates with local schools and community organisations, offering workshops, youth programs, and special performances that foster a love of theatre in the next generation.
Today, the Bell Theatre Group continues to be a cornerstone of the local arts scene. Their annual calendar features a mix of mainstage productions, one-act festivals, and special events, each one a testament to the enduring power of live performance. With every show, the group reaffirms its mission: to entertain, inspire, and bring the community together through the magic of theatre.
G’day, You Lot!
Saddle Up for a Rip-Roarin’ Night in Crock Creek!
The Bell Theatre Group proudly presents it’s 2025 Theatre Restaurant romp,
“Fools Gold: striking it rich was never this stupid.” A brand new comedy
cooked up especially for the group by Greg Whitworth.
Set in a dusty dot on the map where the population is dwindling and
desperation runs deep, the forgotten town of Crock Creek needs ideas and
maybe even a miracle. When the miners come thundering towards town,
things go downhill faster than a greased billycart.
A frustrated Mayor, a money hungry businessman, a meddling artsy busybody
and a fainting flower of a woman hatch big plans. But what is going on in the
schoolroom late at night? Why is the prospector an idiot? Who is leaving town
in a hurry? And more importantly, Who’s getting married?
A wild stampede of laughs, lunacy, love but mostly panic ensues in this
farcical gallop through the Australian gold rush. Nothing is as it seems.
Grab your mates, nab a seat, and join us for a night of gut-busting giggles and Outback shenanigans!
